Christian Persecution In Nigeria: A Threat To Global Stability

Image
Infallible reports from 2025 and early 2026 indicate that Nigeria has become one of the deadliest countries in the world to live in as a Christian, with persecution and genocide driven by extremist groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, Lakurawa Jihadists, and radicalized Fulani herdsmen. These atrocious activities against Christians take place mostly in the northern and Middle Belt regions of Nigeria such as Plateau and Benue States. Christian persecution in Nigeria poses a significant threat to global peace and stability. The country has undoubtedly become one of the most dangerous places for Christians, with about 850, 000 killed in the past 20 years, and over 5 million persons displaced within the same period in Plateau and Benue States. Over 6, 000 brainwashed extremist groups and Fulani jihadists drawn from 7 African countries (Libya, Senegal, Gambia, Chad, Mali, Niger Republic, and Nigeria) under the auspices of Miyetti Allah Herdsmen Association, by late President Muhammadu Buh...

Ensuring Global Security By Protecting Human Rights And Preventing Extremism

Image
The interconnectedness of global security, human rights, and extremism is starkly evident in today's world. The concepts of protecting human rights and preventing extremism are not merely moral imperatives but vital components of ensuring global security. When human rights are upheld, societies become more resilient to extremist ideologies that thrive on injustice, inequality, and marginalization. One compelling example is the aftermath of the Arab Spring. In Tunisia, where the Jasmine Revolution sparked hopes for democratic reforms, progress in protecting human rights and promoting inclusive or participatory governance has contributed to relative stability. The country's approach to balancing security with rights protections has helped mitigate extremist influences. Conversely, in countries like Syria, where human rights were brutally suppressed, extremist groups like ISIS exploited the void, fueling conflicts and insecurity regionally and globally.  In Nigeria, Boko Haram...

Biafra's Struggle For Independence: A Moral Imperative For UN And US

Image
Biafra's struggle for independence is a moral imperative that warrants United Nations and United States' unalloyed support. The Igbo people, predominantly Christians, face existential threats in Nigeria, including targeted massive Christian genocide, burning of Churches, violence, displacement of vulnerable population, economic marginalization, cultural suppression, political under-representations, forced conversion to Islam, ceaseless rape of abducted females, and others. The Igbo people's quest for self-determination echoes global movements for freedom, justice, and equality.  Examples from across the world demonstrate the indispensability of supporting such freedom-fighting movements. The United States backed Kosovo's independence to stop ethnic cleansing. East Timor gained her independence after United Nations' support. South Sudan seceded from Sudan in 2011 amid ethnic and religious tensions. Bangladesh gained her independence from Pakistan in 1971.  In the sa...

An Open Letter To Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo (Governor of Anambra State)

Image
Dear Governor Soludo, Your Position On IPOB's Monday Sit-At-Home Directive Is Sabotage  I am writing to express my concern about your stance on the Indigenous People Of Biafra's (IPOB's) Monday Sit-At-Home Directive in Anambra State. As a Governor of Anambra State, your role in promoting peace, stability, and progress is crucial. Without any modicum of doubt, the Igbo people's grievances are real and burning like coals of fire, stemming from decades of unprecedented Christian genocide, burning of Churches with worshippers trapped inside them, displacement of vulnerable population, economic marginalization, political under-representation, rape, forced conversion to Islam, and the vicious policy of successive Nigerian Governments not to rehabilitate the South-East geopolitical zone after the Nigerian Civil War of 1966-1970. Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's unjustified detention by both late President Muhammadu Buhari (the Fulani Jihadists' Patron) and his successor, President ...

The Rise Of Islamist Extremism In Nigeria: An Existential Threat To Christians And Democracy

Image
The bourgeoning rise of Islamist extremism in Nigeria poses a significant threat to Christians and democratic rules. Radicalized Islamic groups such as Boko Haram, ISWAP, Lakurawa Jihadists, and Fulani herdsmen (Miyetti Allah Herdsmen Association supplies weapons to Fulani jihadists.) have perpetrated brutal attacks on Christians, burning of Churches, abducting worshippers, raping women, forced conversion to Islam, slaughtering of Christians, and displacement of vulnerable people. This violence is no longer a local issue; it has a far-reaching implications for global stability, security, and religious freedom.  Examples from across the world show the dangers of unchecked Islamist extremism. In Pakistan, for example, Christians like Asia Bibi faced blasphemy accusations and violence. In Iraq, ISIS brutally targeted Yazidis and Christians, displacing thousands. In Somalia, Al-Shabaab's attacks on Christians have become relentless and devastating. Nigeria's extremist groups shar...

Self-Determination For Igbos: A Path To Peace, Prosperity, And Stability In Nigeria

Image
Self-determination for Ndigbo could be a critical trajectory towards peace, prosperity, and stability in Nigeria. The Igbo people, predominantly Christians, have faced decades of unprecedented massive arbitrary killings, marginalization, existential threats, economic exclusions, kidnappings, rape, forced conversion to Islam, and political underrepresentations. Granting them autonomy or sovereignty could, without any doubt, critically alleviate tensions and allow Igbos to govern themselves, escaping vicious cycles of oppression.  Examples from across the world show emphatically that the concept of self-determination can lead to peace and stability. Kosovo's independence followed NATO's interventions to stop ethnic cleansing. East Timor gained her independence after UN's support and is now a thriving democracy. South Sudan seceded from Sudan in 2011 though obvious thorny challenges persist. For the Igbos, self-determination could mean managing their resources, preserving cul...

Protecting Nigeria's Christians: A United States' Leadership Opportunity

Image
The persecution of Christians in Nigeria presents a critical leadership opportunity for the United States of America. With over 850, 000 Christians killed in the past 20 years, and over 5 million persons displaced since 2009 in both Plateau and Benue States, extremist religious groups like Boko Haram, ISWAP, Lakurawa Jihadists, and radicalized Fulani herdsmen, have callously perpetrated untold violence, threatening regional stability and global security. The United States, as a champion of human rights and democracy advocacy, must act to protect Nigeria's Christians and promote religious tolerance.  Nigeria's strategic geographical location and teeming population makes it a key player in West African security. Unchecked religious extremism can easily spread like epidemics, destabilizing the region and beyond. The United States has already designated Nigeria as a "Country of Particular Concern (CPC)" and conducted military airstrikes against extremist targets. However...
