An Open Letter To President Vladimir Putin

AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT   VLADIMIR PUTIN

 His Excellency,

President Vladimir Putin

President of The Russian Federation

Kremlin, Moscow

May 14, 2025.

Dear President Vladimir Putin,

Intended Collaboration With Nigerian Government To Fight Terrorism Is Unsafe

Greetings to you, His Excellency. I am writing to express my deep concern about the reported plan to engage the Russian Federation Government in a collaborative effort to combat terrorism in Nigeria. While the fight against terrorism is a laudable and necessary endeavour, I strongly advise against your partnering with Nigeria. In my humble opinion, Nigeria's permanent track record raises significant concerns that could potentially harm Russian Federation's reputation and status among the comity of nations.

Nigeria has consistently demonstrated a culture of lack of reliability and transparency in its international engagements. The country has struggled with corruption, malfeasant governance, insecurity, abject poverty, and instability, which have hindered its ability to effectively address domestic challenges. These factors would likely pose significant challenges to any collaborative efforts with Russian Federation. To the best of my knowledge, I can affirmatively attest to the fact that partnering with Nigeria could potentially tarnish Russian Federation's image as a reliable and effective global player. Russian Federation's reputation as a strong and capable nation could be compromised by association with a country which has struggled in futility for six decades to demonstrate stability and good governance.

Furthermore, Nigeria's security challenges are multi-faceted. It is too deep to tackle! The country is besieged with various security threats, including terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, Islamic fundamentalism, and incessant communal conflicts. Any effort to address these challenges head-on would require a deep understanding of local content and a long-term commitment.

Given these concerns, I urge you to reconsider any plan in the offing to collaborate with Nigeria in the fight against terrorism. Instead, the Russian Federation could explore alternative partnerships with more stable, reliable, and serious-minded countries that share similar goals and values.

The Nigerian Government which wants your collaboration for anti-terrorism campaigns is the brain behind the terrorism. What is Boko Haram and terrorism? How did they begin? His Excellency, I want to candidly tell you that Boko Haram, terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, and indiscriminate communal conflicts are all the brainchild of highly influential people of Nigeria. None of these evil activities came from Heaven, but from the very people in the past and present Nigerian Governments. They are the past and present Presidents, retired and serving Army generals, retired and serving Naval officers, retired and serving Air Force officers, former State Governors and Ministers, former and present Central Bank of Nigeria Governors, and highly successful businessmen etc. The above mentioned categories of people have bought sophiscated weapons from abroad and trained thousands of unemployed boys to fight for the control or possession of lands endowed with precious in-ground mineral resources such as gold, diamond, tantalite, californium, jasper, onyx, and others. Instead of allowing the Federal Government of Nigeria to harness and mine these resources as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, these greedy people use force to mine these minerals and sell them for their own selfish aggrandizement. The crude oil which the Nigerian Government uses right from inception of her independence till today as benchmark to run our economy is found in Southern Nigeria.

These greedy wolves from Northern Nigeria have seized many crude oil concessions in the littoral Southern States where oil exploration activities are going on everyday. They used army uniform to steal our resources. Now, the minerals in their own Northern Nigeria soil belongs to them only, and not for the whole Nigeria. When people from other tribes of Nigeria complain about the lopsided sharing and management of national resources and marginalization, they arrest and clamp them in detention for years without trial. The United Kingdom will come out to support them to receive a part of the booty. Many of these faceless hegemons have 20 gold mining sites. Some have 30 gold mining sites and operations go on daily. Some of them have 40 gold mining sites. They brought miners from Iran, China, India, Germany, UAE, and others, to carry out mining operations for them. They sell their products abroad. They have billions of United States dollars which they made from the illegal mining businesses. Have you now understood what terrorism in Nigeria means? Did you get the picture clearly, sir?  In their quest for control of lands richly endowed with in-ground mineral resources, a group of terrorists belonging to Mr. A invades Mr. B's mining sites to kill his workers and take possession of that mining site. More than 90% of terrorists in Nigeria are trained soldiers. Many of those men were forcefully dismissed from the Nigerian Army without any offence, and replaced by other non-regimented men by the top officers to collect salaries to share with them. Those dismissed boys are taken by one big general or the other to work for them for payments. That is why they are so hardened and merciless when dealing with their victims. I met a man in a restaurant in the Central North of Nigeria. He is a medical doctor. He narrated to me how terrorists kidnapped and detained him in the forest for almost two years till his family went to pay a princely ransom for his release. He was given one plate of white rice without stew and meat throughout that period. He was shot in his ankle and was denied treatment. His leg was rotten and smelling. He was just a skeleton when he was released from the terrorists' forest. He told me the story by himself. Terrorism is man-made! It is a case of dog chop dog! This is the whole truth about terrorism in Nigeria and Africa. Continue helping President Ibrahim Traore as you are doing. He has good intentions for Burkina Faso and Africa. Please, don't do any business with Nigeria. If you do, the reputation of the Russian Federation will drop dramatically to the lowest ebb.

Up till today, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Igbo tribe's unarmed freedom fighter, is still languishing in detention for many years, without any justice in sight. The United Nations has turned deaf ears to the Igbo people's afflictions and sufferings in Nigeria. The UN knows too well that the Igbos are oppressed and treated as slaves in their own lands for decades by successive Nigerian Governments. Yet, nobody says anything about it. The Federal Government of Nigeria does not allow the Igbos to become a sovereign State, neither does it accept them as bonafide citizens of Nigeria. The Igbo race is hanging in the balance of torment without any effort by the UN to help her out.

Your Excellency, you know that when an owl sees a puma, it cries out so loud. If there is no oppression, there would be no agitation. Where there is oppression, there is agitation. I humbly ask you to plead to the UN to look into Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's case and talk to the Nigerian Government to effect his release from incarceration before he dies there. You can see his picture in this post. He is in chains because he told the Federal Government of Nigeria to withdraw all her armoured tanks and thousands of soldiers who are arbitrarily killing, raping, and pillaging Igbo people for many years without justification. The Nigerian Army has killed over 12, 000 Igbos within the last few years. Yet, the present regime sits complacent on its reclining chair watching the scenarios with delight, applause, and commendation. Your Excellency, I sincerely wish that you see this letter and act on it. May God bless and protect you, sir!

Long live President Vladimir Putin

Long live The Russian Federation.

Yours sincerely,

 Uduma Okeh.
