Democracy and development are intricately linked, with democratic principles playing a critical role in fostering national growth, promoting economic prosperity, and ensuring the well-being of citizens, as seen in countries like Norway, New Zealand, and Sweden, where democratic governance has enabled sustainable development and high standards of living.

By ensuring that power is distributed evenly among the three tiers of government -- executive, legislature, and judiciary -- democracies can prevent the concentration or bundling of power and protect individual's rights and freedoms. For example, countries like Singapore and Denmark have consistently ranked high in terms of economic competitiveness and ease doing business, thanks to their robust democratic institutions and good governance.

Democracy fosters innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship, which are essential denominators for driving economic growths and development. By protecting individual's rights and freedoms, democracies across cultures can create an environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and risk-taking. This, in turn, can lead to the development of new products, services, and technologies, which can drive economic growth and improve living standards. But, if democracy operates without checks and balances, tyranny will become the order of the day rather than exception. Like the Athenian elders who killed Socrates in their flawed democratic governance, tyrants of today are already abusing power and killing people arbitrarily without anyone raising the eyebrows.
