Alligator vs. Crocodile: A Satire Of Nigerian Government's Complicity With Terrorists

In the murky waters of Nigeria's politics and national insecurity, the struggle against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, killing, and burning of Christian Churches, is often likened to a battle between two formidable marine foes: the alligator (representing the Nigerian Government) and the crocodile (representing terrorism). On the periphery, both creatures appear similar, with scaly skin, sharp teeth, and a voracious or gargantuan appetite for destruction. However, a closer examination reveals stark differences in their characteristics, habits, and habitats.

The alligator, found in freshwater environments, is a symbol of adaptability and resilience. It is a creature of stealth and patience, waiting for the perfect moment to strike its prey. In contrast, the crocodile, inhabiting both fresh and saltwater habitats, is a master of aggression, hostility, and dominance. It is a creature of brute force, capable of taking down large preys with ease.

Despite their differences, both marine creatures share a common trait: they are apex predators, ruling their domains with an iron fist. However, this is where their similarities end, and the satire begins. The Nigerian Government, in its fight against terrorism, often presents itself as a fierce alligator, gliding effortlessly through the waters of insurgency, striking when least expected. However, a closer look reveals a different story. The Nigerian Government's efforts against terrorism, for example, are often characterized by lethargy, lukewarmness, corruption, cowardice, fear of man, and total lack of sincerity. It is as if the Government is content to let the alligator's patience turn into complacency, allowing the terrorist groups (crocodile) to regroup and reinforce for hellish attacks.

Meanwhile, the crocodile lurks in the shadows, representing the very forces of terror and violence that the Government claims to be fighting against. Just as the crocodile is a formidable predator, terrorist groups are extremely fierce and ruthless, striking fear into the hearts of the helpless Nigerians. However, the Government's response to these threats is often akin to alligator's half-hearted swipes, lacking the ferocity and determination needed to crush the crocodile's grip on the nation.

The differences between the alligator and crocodile serve as a stark reminder of the Government's complicity and duplicity. The Government's hypocritical approach to the nation's insecurity and plight is better imagined than told. Over 800, 000 Nigerians have been killed by radical jihadists, terrorists, and bandits. Assorted Fulani killer groups drawn from Libya, Senegal, Sudan, Mali, Niger, Chad, joined together with Nigerian Fulanis by late President Muhammadu Buhari, Sultan of Sokoto (Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar), Nasri El-Rufai, and other Northern Leaders of Fulani extraction in April 2014, are daily exterminating the Nigerian population. Many people: men, women, and children have been mercilessly slaughtered arbitrarily. Hundreds of Churches have been burnt to ashes with worshippers locked inside and burnt together. Over two million rural dwellers have been displaced in Plateau and Benue States within the same period.

Hunger is on the rise throughout Nigeria today because farmers do not go to farms anymore, except if they have an agreement with the bandits to pay annual royalties to them. Inspite of these grim insecurity and hunger, the Government is not ready to fight against the insurgents head-on. Terrorist funders and mentors are eating and drinking together with President Tinubu till today. Many of them are in the Nigerian Senate and Federal House of Representatives. After discussing national security issues during the plenary, they immediately give information to the terrorists in the forests through text messages in their mobile phones. They delete the information after sending it. Yet, President Tinubu allows them to continue operating just because they helped him to become the president of Nigeria even without being voted for by over 70% of Nigerian electorates. He cannot dare the political gladiators who sent their boys to the forests to kidnap, rape, and kill fellow Nigerians without provocation. Living in Nigeria is same as living in hell! There is no difference between Nigeria and hell. Life here is extremely unbearable. People are killed everyday. Instead of Government to use its full force to kill the devils, it condescends so low to negotiate with base elements and pay ransom for few citizens to be released from hostages. President Tinubu is an indulgent leader. He pleases people who work for his advantage at the detriment of over 220 million people whom he pledged to protect from both internal and external aggressions.

The differences between the alligator and crocodile serve as a stark reminder of the Government's complicity. While the alligator is a symbol of adaptability and resilience, the Government's response to terrorism is marked by stagnation, ineptitude, and self-illusion. The crocodile, on the other hand, represents the brutal force of terrorism, which the Government claims to be fighting against, but often seems to be in co-conspiracy with. The similarities between the two marine creatures are also noticeable. Both are apex predators, yet, the Government seems to be more interested in using the alligator's image to project strength and defence, while secretly feeding the crocodile's power ( payment of ransoms for release of hostages). Terrorists use money to buy more lethal weapons and feed themselves and be able to withstand Government's security forces. The result of these insincere attitudes of Nigerian Governments to the eradication of terrorism is a nation torn apart by violence, blood shedding, displacements, corruption, and mistrust. As we speak at this moment, close to ten thousand girls are still held up here and there in the pristine forest glades of the North by terrorists, and daily subjected to forced sexuality. Things like these means nothing to Government because their own children are studying abroad feeding fat on money stolen by their parents. Where do we go from here? Let President Trump please understand that this Tinubu regime will never be serious waging war against terrorism. He can send his goons to US to talk, plead, and lie that they are working while nothing is truly happening. The insecurity level has increased exponentially more than before. What I am saying here is nothing but the whole truth! Bandits are everywhere in Nigeria today killing and maiming people. Last Sunday, some Church worshippers were kidnapped again in Kogi State, including a pastor and his wife. Let the US Congress do something very urgent and specific about Nigeria's insecurity. Don't listen to Tinubu's Government. Come and save lives hanging in the balance. Our Government cannot protect us because the terrorists funders are part and parcel of it.

In conclusion, the alligator and crocodile serve as a scathing satire of Nigerian Government's insincere attitudes towards terrorism eradication. While the Government presents itself as a fierce alligator, it is, in reality, a toothless creature, allowing the crocodile of terrorism to crush it and thrive. Until the Government finds the strength (no more ordinary image of a dreadful creature) to confront its own demons and address the root causes of terrorism, the nation will remain trapped in the jaws of these two formidable reptiles, with no escape route in sight.
