Bypassing The Corrupt Nigerian Government: Recipe For Fighting Terrorism In Nigeria
The fight against terrorism is a complex challenge that requires a comprehensive approach. The Nigerian Government's ineptitude and complicity in the crisis have raised concerns about its ability to effectively tackle the menace head-on. In this context, the United States can play a pivotal role in supporting Nigeria's effort to combat terrorism by bypassing the corruption-laden Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Government, and working directly with local vigilantes and community leaders and civil society organizations.
The US Government can provide technical assistance and intelligence support to local vigilantes and trusted community leaders, helping them to build capacity and enhance their ability to track and disrupt terrorists networks. This support can be channeled through alternative structures, such as registered security companies and civil society organizations, to ensure that it reaches the intended beneficiaries.
One proven approach is for the US to liaise with one or two trusted senators from outside Northern Nigeria, which can assist in coordinating the entire operations. The reason is because it will be extremely impossible for a politician from the North to decline to reveal information to their leaders or colleagues. Such senators should be ones which have shown willingness to take on terrorists and provide them with the necessary resources and support. These senators, with the help of other security companies, can bring in some other militant groups such as the Aguleri Boys in Anambra State, South East geopolitical zone and Egbesu Boys in the South South geopolitical zone respectively. The Boko Haram, ISWAP, bandits and other groups of terrorists are no match to these Aguleri Boys and Egbesu Boys at all. Only about two thousand Aguleri Boys can kill all the terrorists in Northern Nigeria within a short time if they are equipped to do so. The Egbesu Boys can also fight both on land and sea! President Trump can provide them, including other vigilante groups and community leaders, with the appropriate intelligence, training, and equipment to enhance their capacity to combat terrorism. The community leaders who are familiar with the terrain shall be required to lead and show them the terrorists' hideouts.
Local vigilante groups and community leaders who have been at the forefront of the fight against terrorism, should be given maximum support by President Trump. These groups have demonstrated a deep understanding of the local terrain and have been effective in identifying and neutralizing terrorists. The US can provide them with training, equipment, intelligence, and resources to enhance their capacity to combat terrorism. There are many State Government-owned vigilante groups across Nigeria already. Let President Trump use some of them for this exercise. They should be drawn from other parts of Nigeria since the North's conscience has been bought over by their Elders and Emirates which want terrorism to continue for their material aggrandizements. There are many Nigerian youths too who may volunteer to be trained under special arrangements with US to participate in the fight against terrorism and banditry in Nigeria. One thing they need is leadership which prioritizes transparency and accountability, and not the one which will alert the enemy that they are coming on the way to fight them. Independent organizations and individuals can be appointed by US to oversee and monitor the smooth-running and progress of the project, and ensuring that resources are not misappropriated and diverted as usual to corrupt officials. President Trump can successfully crush terrorists in Nigeria without the involvement of corrupt President Tinubu and the engagement of the double-faced Nigerian military. This is my candid opinion. If President Trump carries Nigerian Government along in the fight against terrorism, it will amount to an effort in futility. It cannot succeed when over 40% of Nigerian senators are strongly behind insurgency. Our system is infested with the gangrene of corruption! So, Government should be bypassed if the exercise should be successful. If President Trump needs help, we can afford to be of help. We can link him up with local security outfits which can crush the spate of terrorism permanently in Nigeria.
In conclusion, the US Government, led by President Trump, can play a crucial role in supporting Nigeria's effort to combat terrorism by bypassing the corrupt Government of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his political hegemons from the North, and work directly with local vigilantes and community leaders. This approach requires a nuanced understanding of the complex dynamics at play in Nigeria and a commitment to transparency and accountability. With the right approach of bypassing the corrupt Government and working directly with the right people, the US can help Nigeria to combat terrorism, and build a more stable, secure, and safe country for all Nigerians.
