Child's Overpampering: Shortest Way To Child's Death And Poverty
Overpampering, or overindulging children by parents has become a concerning trend in the modern world today. While it is natural for parents to want to provide their children with the best things that life can afford, overpampering or overindulging them can have devastating consequences. When parents overpamper or overindulge their erring and wanton children, thinking that they love them so much, it leads to children's destruction, including wasting parents' accumulated wealth. The consequences of overpampering or overindulging a child are as follows:
* Wasting parents' accumulated wealth
1. Excessive spending:
Overpampered or overindulged children often develop a sense of entitlement, leading to excessive spending on luxuries and indulgences.
2. Lack of financial literacy:
Without proper financial education, overpampered children may not understand the value of money, leading to reckless spending and financial mismanagement.
3. Dependence on parents:
Overpampered children may rely too heavily on their parents for their financial support, failing to develop self-sufficiency and independence.
* Bringing the family to poverty
1. Financial ruin:
Overpampering can lead to financial ruin, as parents may be forced to dip hand into their savings, or take high-interest loans to support their child's excessive lifestyle.
2. Family conflicts:
Overpampering can also lead to family conflicts, as parents may disagree on how to manage their child's behaviours and finances.
3. Long-term consequences:
The consequences of overpampering a child cannot be over-emphasized. It has long-lasting consequences, affecting not only the child's financial ability, but also their relationships and overall well-beings.
* Ending badly due to excessive and flamboyant living
1. Addiction and substance abuse:
Overpampered or overindulged children may be susceptible to addiction and substance abuse, as they are usually entitled to indulge in different facets of vices (because they feel that they are above the constituted laws of the State).
2. Criminal behaviours:
In extreme cases, overpampering can lead to criminal behaviours, as the overpampered children feel that they cannot be brought to book. Which President of a country, State Governor, Central Bank's Governor, Petroleum Minister, or Chief Justice of the Federation will fold his hands and watch his son or daughter sentenced to jail for committing an offence against his country? There is none! In almost all continents of the world, the children of wealthy business people and successful politicians can never be sentenced to imprisonment when their parents are alive, not to talk of being hanged. It is also difficult for such a thing to happen in anywhere! It therefore means that the law, everywhere in the world, is made for the poor, and not for the blue bloods! Hence, children from influential families do whatever pleases them. But, in some cases, it turns against them.
3. Mental health issues:
Overpampering can also contribute to mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, and narcissistic disorder.
Find here some examples of children who wasted their parents' wealth:
1. Paris Hilton:
She is the heiress to the Hilton Hotel fortune. She is known for her extravagant lifestyle and reckless spending.
2. Lindsay Logan:
The actress' struggles with addiction and financial mismanagement have been well-documented.
3. Mike Tyson's daughter:
Mike Tyson's daughter, Mikey Lorna Tyson, has been involved in several high-profile controversies, including arrest for assault.
4. Howard Hughes:
His son, Howard Robard Hughes III, struggled with addiction and spent his inheritance recklessly.
5. J. Paul Getty:
His grandson, John Paul Getty III, was kidnapped and later struggled with addiction and financial issues.
6. Howard Stern's daughter:
Emily Stern has been known for her extravagant spending and party lifestyle.
7. Sean Combs' son:
Christian Combs has been involved in several high-profile controversies, including arrest for assault.
8. Trust Fund Kids:
Some wealthy parents have expressed concerns about spoiling their children through overpampering and much wealth. Following this, some are rethinking their inheritance plans. For example:
1. Sting:
The musician plans to spend his $300 million dollars fortune rather than leaving it to his children.
2. Warren Buffet:
The billionaire investor is giving away his fortune, emphasizing the importance of children earning their own money than relying on parents' accumulated wealth which they may end up spending recklessly.
Overpampering can be mitigated by:
* Setting boundaries and expectations
1. Clear rules and consequences:
Establishing clear rules and consequences can help children understand the importance of responsible behaviours.
2. Encouraging independence:
Encouraging children to take responsibility for their actions and make their own decisions can help them develop self-sufficiency.
* Teaching financial literacy
1. Financial education:
Providing children with financial education can help them understand the value of money and make informed financial decisions.
2. Encouraging entrepreneurship:
Encouraging children to start their own businesses or participate in entrepreneurial activities can help them develop a sense of self-sufficiency and financial responsibility.
* Modeling healthy behaviours:
1. Responsible spending:
Model responsible spending habit that can help children understand the importance of living within their means.
2. Emotional intelligence:
Teaching children emotional intelligence can help them develop healthy relationships and make informed decisions.
Across all the latitudes of the Earth, one can find children of wealthy billionaires and millionaires always on spending sprees daily without the knowledge of saving for tomorrow. The excess money at their disposal often turns to become a curse to them since they are like moving objects without brake or control systems. They rev on and on uncontrollably until they fall into the precipice of death. The excess money which their parents did not teach them how to control turns around to control them. It leads them into drug addiction and other social vices. In Africa, they use their big money to form religious fundamentalists movements to kill innocent people. They use their big money to install criminals into presidential and senatorial seats to steal the remaining national resources. They use their big money to seize several hundreds of acres of lands with rich deposits of in-ground minerals. They are the children of powerful people in the society. They are above the laws of the State. They are the hegemons of the world. In some cases, they die under drug addiction. They die in ghastly motor accidents due to overspeeding and ear-deafening music from their Ferreiras, Hummers, and Limousines. They are infected with terminal diseases which result to their untimely deaths. Many of them squander their parents' fortune till they become poor. All these happen to them because their parents overpampered or overindulged them. Their parents failed woefully to raise proper children who know the value of money and human life. Their parents overpampered them as if they were the only children born in the world. They did not tell them to beware of excessive spending of money.
In summary, overpampering or overindulging can have devastating consequences for children, including wasting parents' accumulated wealth, bringing the family back to poverty, and ultimately ending badly due to excessive and flamboyant living. By setting boundaries and expectations, teaching financial literacy, and modeling healthy behaviours, parents can help mitigate the risks of overpampering or overindulging, and raise responsible, independent, and successful children.
